Relationships
Numerology compatibility
Numerology compatibility compares two people's core numbers, usually starting with the Life Path, to describe where a relationship tends to flow easily and where it takes more conscious effort. It is a conversation tool, not a verdict on whether a relationship will last.

How a compatibility reading is done
- Calculate each person's Life Path number from their birth date.
- Optionally add the Expression and Soul Urge numbers for nuance, Expression for how you each operate, Soul Urge for what you each want.
- Compare the numbers using the loose groupings below, then look at specific pairings.
Numerology often sorts the single digits into three families:
- Independent / mental: 1, 5, 7
- Structured / grounded: 2, 4, 8
- Expressive / relational: 3, 6, 9
Pairs within a family are said to understand each other quickly. Pairs across families are said to need translation, which can mean friction, or a productive stretch, depending on how both people handle difference.
Life Path pairing overview
Generally easy
1&5, 1&7, 3&6, 3&9, 6&9, 2&4, 4&8, 2&8, 5&7. Shared pace and priorities; less explaining required.
Takes translation
1&2, 1&6, 4&5, 5&6, 7&8, 3&4. Different needs around freedom, structure or closeness; workable with clear communication.
Same number
Instant recognition and shared blind spots. The strengths and weaknesses of that number are doubled and less balanced.
Master numbers
An 11, 22 or 33 partner brings extra intensity. Compatibility is usually read against the reduced number (2, 4, 6) plus a note about the added pressure.
These groupings vary between numerology books. Use them as prompts, “where might we need to translate?”, not as scores.
What compatibility numerology can and cannot do
It can give a couple a shared, low-stakes language for talking about differences: one partner needs more autonomy, the other more reassurance, and here is a neutral frame for that. It cannot predict whether you will stay together, and it should never be used to talk yourself into or out of a relationship. Real compatibility is built from how two people treat each other, communicate and handle conflict, none of which a birth date can measure.

Compatibility FAQ
What is numerology compatibility?
It is the practice of comparing two people's core numbers, mainly Life Path, to describe how their styles might mesh. It is a conversation tool, not a verdict, and not scientific.
Which numbers are compared for compatibility?
Most often the two Life Path number numbers, sometimes with the Expression and Soul Urge added for a fuller picture.
How do I calculate compatibility between two people?
Work out each person's Life Path number, then look at how those two numbers are traditionally described together. The compatibility calculator does the arithmetic.
Which Life Path numbers are said to be most compatible?
Traditional pairings put 1 with 3, 5 and 6; 2 with 4, 6 and 8; 3 with 1, 5 and 7; and so on. These are starting points, not rules.
Are any number pairings considered incompatible?
Some combinations are described as harder work, but numerology does not label any pairing impossible. Effort and communication matter more than the numbers.
Can numerology tell me who to marry?
No. It can prompt useful conversations about differences in style, but it cannot and should not decide a relationship for you.
Does a low compatibility score mean a relationship will fail?
No. A score is a rough summary of one symbolic system. Plenty of lasting relationships would score 'low' and plenty of short ones would score 'high'.
Do master numbers change compatibility?
Readers who use master numbers interpret an 11, 22 or 33 Life Path as an intensified 2, 4 or 6 when comparing pairs. Others reduce first. Both approaches exist.
Is numerology compatibility better than astrology compatibility?
Neither has evidence behind it. They are different symbolic frameworks; preference is personal.
